Home library service for Church Stretton and surrounding district

After a successful recruitment campaign in December 2011, Church Stretton Library has launched a new home library service, taking books, CDs, DVDs and talking books to members of the community who find it difficult to get to their local library.

This free service, which is delivered by volunteers with help from library staff, is available to anyone who is unable to use the library because they have a disability, long-term illness or caring responsibilities which make it difficult for them to get out.

Councillor Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for libraries, said:

“This is an excellent service and I’m pleased that it has now been launched in the Church Stretton area.

“Our volunteers can visit residents every few weeks with the items that will be of interest to them; ideal for those unable to get to the library.”

David Evans, a Shropshire Councillor for Church Stretton and Craven Arms, said:

“I welcome this service to Church Stretton. It will be an excellent service to those who cannot visit the library,  This is all part of quality of life.

“I would like to say a big thank you to volunteers that have come forward to help Shropshire Council deliver this fantastic service, and long may it continue.”
