Community grant celebration event at Levi Court in Ellesmere
The Levi Court Residents Association in Ellesmere has received a grant of £546 towards the cost of replacing a 35-year-old carpet that now looks dated in the modern refurbishment.
The grant was funded through the Ellesmere Local Joint Committee (LJC), which covers the parishes of Cocksutt Cum Petton, Welshampton and Lyneal, Welsh Frankton, Dudleston Heath and Ellesmere.
A coffee morning to celebrate the refurbishment of the community room which services 21 bungalows in the sheltered housing scheme took place on Wednesday 30 November 2011.
Martin Holland, chief executive of Shropshire Housing Alliance, attended, along with Shropshire Councillor Steve Davenport, chair of Ellesmere LJC.
Councillor Steve Davenport said:-
“It was a pleasure to meet the group, and I am delighted that this grant will help to add the finishing touch to this well used community space. Susan Jardine attended our meeting in November and explained that the Levi Court Residents Association use the facilities on a daily basis and that replacing the carpet was their main priority. Our committee was unanimous that we should support the scheme. Ellesmere LJC is all about making a difference in the community and we welcome applications of this nature.”
The committee has £9,035 remaining in this current year’s budget, and are keen that groups contact the community action officer to start planning to submit applications to the next meeting, due to take place on 13 March 2012 at The Boathouse in Ellesmere.
