A49 near Wem due to reopen tonight (Tuesday 29 November 2011)

The A49 at Preston Brockhurst, near Wem, is due to reopen this evening (Tuesday 29 November 2011), following a serious accident in the early hours of the day.

Highways engineers have been working hard to recover the vehicles as quickly as possible, and the road was due to reopen in the early evening, with speed restrictions in place.

A diversion route is in place via the A41 to Tern Hill and A53 to Shrewsbury and vice versa.  Drivers are being warned to expect major delays, and all efforts have been made to reopen the road as soon as possible.
