Residents from the Market Drayton and rural area will meet to talk about their local communities and to discuss their local priorities.

Shropshire Council is hosting the latest meeting of the Market Drayton and Rural Local Joint Committee (LJC) on Wednesday 12 October 2011 at Hinstock Memoral Hall,  Chester Road, Hinstock, TF9 2SZ from 7pm.

The evening will be packed with a wide variety of items for discussion, including information on the launch of the Market Drayton Town Plan, partially funded by the LJC, presentations by local parish councils on the issues and activities in their areas, and an exciting presentation by the innovative group of local people who have recently taken over the Hinds Head village pub in Norton-in-Hales.

Public questions are always invited and usually result in a vibrant and informative session on a wide variety of topics.  Feedback will be given on issues raised at previous meetings.

Market Drayton and Rural area LJC also has a funding pot for community projects.  Applications from six groups for funding will be considered, and progress reports on previously-funded community projects will also be heard at this meeting.  Additionally, members of the committee invite expressions of interest in the latest round of Shropshire Council Rural Challenge Fund applications – grants of between £5,000 and £40,000 are available for local projects with a strong economic regeneration focus.  Interested groups should contact their local community action officer for more information.

Councillor David Minnery, Chair of the Market Drayton and Rural area LJC encouraged local people to come along and join in:

“Market Drayton and Rural area LJC remains one of the strongest and most vibrant committees in Shropshire; it provides an excellent opportunity for local people to set relevant local priorities.”

The information discussed on the night is shaped by local residents, so if there is something you want to say, or want to know about where you live, why not come along and help shape your local community and set the local priorities.

If you would like to know more about your LJC, or to apply for LJC or Rural Challenge Fund monies, please contact Nicola Fisher, senior community action officer, community action team, on 01939 237 569, or log on to our website at: shropshire.gov.uk. ”
