Join in Highley litter pick
People living in Highley are being encouraged to take part in a community litter pick in the village on Wednesday 16 November 2011.
The litter pick has been organised by Shropshire Council’s environmental maintenance team as part of the national Big Tidy Up campaign, and is being carried out in addition to their routine street cleaning schedule.
The litter pick will be focusing on High Street, Barke Street, Orchard Street, Coronation Street, Rhea Hall Estate, Hazelwells Road, Oak Street, Ash Street and Beech Street.
Officers will be at Orchard Street Car Park in the centre of the village at 9.30am to meet volunteers and give a brief health and safety talk. Litter-picking equipment will be provided. The litter pick will finish at around noon.
Councillor Martin Bennett, Shropshire Council’s deputy Cabinet member, said:
“I’d like to invite as many people as possible to come along on the day to lend a hand in this joint effort between the community and the council to keep Highley clean and tidy.”
