Residents get to hear about future of health services in Oswestry
Residents in and around Oswestry have the opportunity to hear about the future of their health services at a public meeting of the Oswestry Cluster Local Joint Committee (LJC) on Tuesday 27 September 2011 at 7pm at The Marches School.
Adam Cairns, Chief Executive of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust, will be there to talk to about the latest developments in the work being carried out to secure the future of hospital services in Shrewsbury and Telford and the proposed changes to health service provision at the Royal Shrewsbury and Princess Royal Hospitals.
Nicky Jacques, Locality Manager for Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust, will be providing a virtual tour of the new Oswestry Medical Centre, putting people in the picture about the benefits the new centre will bring to health provision in the town, and there will be an update on the West Midlands Ambulance Service ‘Make Ready’ project – an issue which has created local concern about the changes to ambulance services and their impact on the local station.
Councillor Martin Bennett, Chairman of the Oswestry LJC, said:
“Health issues have been worrying local people for years, and from the time we lost out local hospital, each and every change has been closely scrutinised. We know that the NHS is going to face increased demand at a time when funding is proving more and more difficult, but we must be sure that the changes can bring better healthcare for everyone in our area. I hope that as many people as possible will come along to hear for themselves, and question, what is being done, so that we can know where our heath services are going.”
The Oswestry Cluster LJC is made up Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins & Weston Rhyn; St Oswald & Llanymynech; Oswestry and The Five Perry Parishes LJCs. This cluster meeting is being held in addition to the individual LJC meetings, which will be taking place over the coming weeks.
