Over 33 bags of litter collected across south west Shropshire
Officers from Shropshire Council’s environmental maintenance team were pleased to welcome three volunteers, as well as PC Dan Wood and Shropshire Councillor Rosanna Taylor-Smith, to litter pick Ludlow town centre as part of the national Big Tidy Up campaign.
Over six bags of litter were collected on Monday 12 September 2011 from around the town, following the famous Food Festival, in addition to their enhanced routine street cleaning schedule.
Councillor Martin Bennett, Shropshire Council’s deputy Cabinet member, said:
“This is the last Big Tidy Up litter pick for the south west area for the year. The litter collected amounts to over 33 bags across seven areas. We are very grateful for the time and effort the volunteers have so generously given.”
Attending the litter pick, Rosanna Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow North, said:
“After a very successful Food Festival weekend, volunteer litter pickers went round to clear up a few areas of the town. Even with around 22,000 visitors per day there was very little to clear up, and I should like to thank the volunteers for their efforts on the Monday morning.”
If you would like to volunteer to be a Ludlow Pride of Place litter picker, there are two regular litter picks, both held on the last Saturday of the month.
