Pylon response on the agenda at Loton and Tern LJC
Shropshire Council’s response to the Mid Wales powerlines consultation will be the focus of the next Loton and Tern Local Joint Committee (LJC) on Thursday 7 July 2011.
The meeting is open to all residents and will take place at Montford parish hall at 7pm.
Ian Kilby from Shropshire Council’s planning team will be attending the meeting to talk about Shropshire Council’s response to proposals by National Grid to install new power lines and pylons in the area, to link windfarms in Powys to the national grid. Ian will outline what the proposals are, and give details of how Shropshire Council is responding to the consultation.
David Roberts, Shropshire Councillor for the Loton division and a member of the LJC, said:
“The proposals for the new power lines in the area have created a great deal of concern locally, particularly in the Watlesborough and Montford areas. While a number of public meetings have been held to discuss the proposals, and the consultation period has now ended, we felt it was important to let people know what happens next, and how Shropshire Council have responded to the consultation. Ian Kilby’s presentation will help us understand the issues and what will happen next.”
The meeting will review the funding applications that the committee has received. This includes applications from Nesscliffe Parish Council to run a youth club in their parish, and an application from Bomere Heath Cricket Club for new cricket nets for use by their senior and youth teams. There will also be a presentation on the Bicton oil co-operative, which helps local people bulk purchase oil for domestic heating.
Members of the public will also have the chance to ask councillors questions and raise any important local issues.
