People with a BeActive Leisure Membership card will now be able to benefit from money off items and exciting days out following a deal with Shropshire Council and local businesses.

The council’s BeActive leisure scheme is open to all residents, visitors, clubs, groups and organisations and offers up to 15% off most activities at the council’s leisure centres. It also offers members the ability to book in advance and, at some centres, online.

As well as all of these great advantages, from today (1 July 2011) BeActive card holders will have the added benefit of getting discounts at the following places:

• Ironbridge Gorge Museum – 40% discount on family tickets
• Salopian Sports Shop – 10% discount
• Dave Mellor Cycles – 10% discount
• Sports & Games – 10% discount
• Salop Music Centre – up to 15% discount

Buying a BeActive membership card costs just £5 which people will easily gain back after a few visits to their local leisure centre.

Councillor Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for active and healthy lifestyles, said:

“BeActive is a fantastic scheme which helps to make sporting activities more accessible for local people.

“By teaming up with local businesses we are able to offer further benefits to our loyal customers, while supporting our local economy.”

For more information about the scheme and how to become a BeActive member register, people should visit the council’s website.

BeActive comes with a full range of concessions, providing up to a 50% discount for eligible people.
