Fly the flag for the Armed Forces

We’re supporting Armed Forces Day by flying a special flag at our headquarters across the county this week.

The MOD is encouraging councils, businesses and homes across the country to show their support for the Armed Forces, and Shropshire Council is keen to join the campaign.

Shropshire will join hundreds of councils by flying the Armed Forces Day flag from Monday (20 June 2011) for a week in honour of the Armed Forces.

Chairman of Shropshire Council, Malcolm Pate, said: “It’s important to support the Armed Forces, who do a wonderful job in very difficult circumstances across the world, and I am pleased Shropshire Council is joining the campaign to fly the flag.”

The flag will fly at Shirehall in Shrewsbury, and all council headquarters at Guildhall in Shrewsbury, Edinburgh House in Wem, Corve Street in Ludlow, Westgate in Bridgnorth and Castle View in Oswestry.

Armed Forces Day will take place on Saturday 25 June 2011.
