Family fun day at The Quarry

Related topics: Leisure, culture and heritage

Families with children under five years old are invited to a host of family fun activities at The Quarry in Shrewsbury on Thursday 16 June 2011.

The free event, led by Shropshire Council’s Sure Start children centres and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, will run from 10am to 2pm and will include soft play and sand playing, face painting, and arts and craft activities on the Play Bus.

Families are invited to bring a picnic and join us for fun activities.

Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member Aggie Caesar-Homden said:

“Our children’s centres provide a fantastic range of events for children under fives and their families.  I encourage families to come along to The Quarry on Thursday and enjoy the day.”

The event is one of many activities the council’s Sure Start children centres organise to promote healthy lifestyles for families and provides an opportunity for families and their children to socialise.

Councillor Andrew Bannerman, local councillor for Quarry and Coton Hill, said:

“I hope many children come along to the Sure Start event and have a good time.  The Quarry will also be very busy preparing for the Shropshire Olympian Festival weekend, so I encourage families and children to come back for the festival and enjoy the fantastic weekend of events.”
