Clee Hill has successful deep clean

Residents and visitors can now enjoy a cleaner High Street and Tenbury Road on Clee Hill, following a successful deep clean by Shropshire Council’s environmental maintenance team on Thursday 2 June 2011.

Due to how busy the two streets are, the road sweeper often has difficulty accessing the entire street to remove moss, leaves and dirt.  In order to carry out a thorough clean of the area, residents were asked to find alternative parking whilst works were undertaken.  With a busy primary school located along the Tenbury Road, streetscene officers took advantage of the half-term break.

During the deep clean, the council’s street cleaning warden assisted the contractor Veolia Environmental Services to jet wash and sweep the pavements. The council’s highways team also provided a gully emptier so, whilst parked vehicles were off the streets, the drains could be emptied.

Councillor Martin Bennett, Shropshire Council’s deputy Cabinet member, said:

“The team do a really great job at keeping the streets clean so that residents and visitors can really enjoy the area.”

Richard Huffer, local Shropshire Councillor for Clee division, said:

“I thank all residents and members of the public for their co-operation in helping the deep clean of the gullies and drains in Clee Hill take place, as these do cause concern at times.”
