Successful deep clean after Mayfair in Ludlow

Related topics: Community

Residents and visitors can now enjoy a sparkling Ludlow following this week’s (Tuesday 3 May 2011) deep clean of the streets within the town centre.

Shropshire Council’s street scene team took advantage of the road closures and lack of parked cars, arranged for the town’s annual Mayfair, to thoroughly clean Castle Square, Mill Street, Dinham, Market Street, High Street, Church Street and Castle Square Car Park.

Councillor Martin Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for transport and IT, said:

“The team did a great job and co-ordinated the deep clean perfectly.”

Rosanna Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow North, said:

“We have taken advantage of the road closure to clean the centre of the town after the Mayfair and to minimise any inconvenience to local businesses.  Certain areas of the town are normally extremely difficult to clean, given parked cars.

“With various festivals shortly arriving, including the Spring Food Festival this weekend as well as a busy tourist season, it was the perfect opportunity to give the town centre a good spring clean.”
