Many different kinds of people become foster carers.  Just like the children who need to be looked after, they come from all walks of life.  But they all have one thing in common – they are able to give children a secure and loving home.

If you’re unsure to whether you can be a foster carer, then listen to the inspiring stories from local foster carers here on You Tube.

Launched by Shropshire Council’s children’s placement service to celebrate Foster Care Fortnight (16 May – 29 May 2011), the video on YouTube features foster carers from around the county, talking about their experiences on fostering children and young people.

Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member Councillor Ann Hartley said:

“Foster caring can really can make a difference to a child’s life and improve their future chances of happiness and success.  I hope that anyone who is thinking about fostering takes a look at this brilliant film, as it gives a very realistic view from a range of carers throughout Shropshire, about what the role really involves.”

Take a look at the video and if you think you could offer a child a home, come and visit us at the Darwin Centre in Shrewsbury during Foster Care Fortnight (16 -27 May 2011), or contact the team now on 0800 783 8798 anytime between 10am and 4pm (if out of hours, leave a message on our answer phone) – we would be delighted to hear from you.
