Free family fun in Baschurch for National Family Week
Families with children under five in Baschurch and the surrounding area are invited to a host of fun activities at the local children’s centre, supported by BOB the Shropshire Playbus, this half-term to celebrate National Family Week (30 May to 5 June 2011).
The event in Baschurch, on Friday 3 June 2011 from 10am–2pm, is organised by Shropshire Council’s Sure Start children centres and is free. Activities include a bear hunt, face painting, big craft activities and fun sports games.
National Family Week is the largest annual celebration of families and family life in the UK and aims to encourage families to spend more time together.
There will be numerous events across the county organised to bring families together in National Family Week, and for children to experience a range of enjoyable activities which will also support their learning and development.
Parents and carers will also have the opportunity to find out about other children’s centre activities and services on offer.
Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member, and local councillor for Ruyton and Baschurch, Councillor Aggie Caesar-Homden said:
“As a council we truly recognise how important it is for families to spend quality time together. Our modern lifestyles can often leave us with little time for family life, so what better way to mark National Family Week than with this fantastic event to encourage local families in and round Baschurch to get out and about and have some family fun. We also understand that school holidays can be expensive for families, so it is reassuring that our Sure Start children’s centre event at Baschurch is free.”
Families and children will also have the opportunity on the day to join their local children’s centre and become fully-fledged members.
Older siblings of under fives are also welcome.
