Children are being invited to a fun-filled Easter 2011 swimming programme, taking place during the school holidays at the Quarry Swimming and Fitness Centre in Shrewsbury.

The holiday programme, running from Monday 11 to Sunday 24 April 2011, includes:

  • Crash course swimming lessons – each class is limited to just four children and the instructor teaches in the water, giving children aged three to five a great start in learning how to swim.
  • Synchronised swimming classes – new for this holiday, Zoe Cooper, former British Champion and international medallist, will be teaching synchronised swimming for competent swimmers of all ages.

Children will also be able to enjoy jumping off the spring boards and the five metre daredevil platform, sliding down the 51 metre flume and playing on the huge inflatable.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture and leisure services, said:

“The Quarry’s Easter programme offers an abundance of activities to keep children and young people entertained this half term.  I‘m sure many of our younger residents will be thrilled will the variety of activities on offer.”

Andrew Bannerman, Shropshire Councillor for Quarry and Coton Hill, said:

“This is an excellent programme. The quarry pool is a great facility and I’m sure the activities on offer will keep children busy during their Easter break.”

Shropshire Council is encouraging people to book their spaces quickly to avoid disappointment. People can do this by calling the centre on 01743 257870 or 257871, or emailing shrewsbury.leisure@shropshire.gov.uk.
