Call for suggestions to boost Cleobury Mortimer

Related topics: Community

Groups and businesses in Cleobury Mortimer are being urged to put forward suggestions for land and property which may have the potential to be used for new small business units as part of the Shropshire Council’s Market Towns Revitalistion Programme. (April 2011)

Under the programme, £500,000 is being made available to support the towns of Cleobury Mortimer, Shifnal, Albrighton, Broseley, Highley, Ellesmere, Wem, Craven Arms, Much Wenlock, Bishop’s Castle, and Pontesbury and Minsterley.

Each town can bid for a share of this funding, which is available to spend on projects that will provide an immediate boost to the town.

The Shropshire Councillors representing each of the eleven towns are now working with town councillors and the local community to identify and prioritise projects.

Councillor Gwilym Butler, a Shropshire Councillor for Cleobury Mortimer and the council’s Cabinet member for community working, is very keen to hear from people living in and around the town.

Councillor Butler said:

“We are keen to engage with the community and particularly to get their suggestions for land owners with land or properties which may be suitable to convert into business use for small or incubator units.  There may be opportunities for the council to grant aid monies on a match-funded basis to get projects off the ground and help create local growth and employment.”
