Illustrated talk on a pioneering Shropshire woman

Shropshire Council’s museum service will be hosting a free illustrated talk on one of Shropshire’s pioneering women on Thursday 10 March 2011.

Local resident Cameron Moffett will be presenting a talk on Anna Kingsford, at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, Rowley House, Shrewsbury from 7pm.

Anna Bonus Kingsford (1846–1888) was a pioneer, visionary and outstanding character of her time. A Victorian mystic and animal rights activist, Kingsford was also one of the first female doctors of medicine.

Anna Bonus Kingsford is one the “Shropshire Heroes” that is being currently featured as part of the special exhibition ‘Making a Difference’ at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery. This illustrated talk will shed some extra light on her amazing character.
