Club information evenings

Related topics: Leisure, culture and heritage

Shropshire Council’s leisure development team is running a series of club information evenings throughout the county, as follows:

Wednesday 6 April – Oswestry Rugby Club

Monday 18 April – Shirehall, Shrewsbury

Wednesday 27 April – Ludlow Town Football Club

Wednesday 4 May – Bylett Bowling Club, Bridgnorth

All the above events will start at 7pm and be finished by 9pm.

Representatives from sports clubs throughout the county are being invited to attend.  Following on from a similar series of meetings earlier in the year, the evenings are aimed at enhancing the contact between leisure services staff and local sports clubs, as well as providing up-to-date help and information useful to clubs, coaches and volunteers.  Refreshments will be provided.

Councillor Steve Charmley, Cabinet member for culture and leisure services, said:

“The club information evenings are a great way for our leisure services to strengthen its partnership with external leisure providers.  It also provides local sports clubs with valuable business information and an opportunity for everyone to socialise and share good practice.  I encourage all those who run sports club to take advantage of this great opportunity and come along to these events.”

Items under discussion will include:

  • Identifying and applying for funding
  • London 2012 – new local initiatives and how your club can get involved now and in the future
  • New initiatives in coach education
  • Volunteer recruitment
  • Working with the media

Pre- booking is required and places will be limited, although more than one club representative is welcome.  Anyone interested in attending one of these meetings can reserve a place by phoning 01743 255071 or email leisure@shropshire.gov.uk
