Chance to join in Bridgnorth litter pick
People living on The Grove in Bridgnorth are being encouraged to take part in a community litter pick and street clean on the morning of Wednesday 23 March 2011.
It will cover Lodge Lane, Morfe Road, The Mall, Priory Road, Beestons Close, St Nicholas Road, St Nicholas Crescent, Grove Crescent and Queens Road.
Officers will be at Lodge Lane, in front of the play area, at 9.30am on the day to meet volunteers and give a brief health and safety talk. Litter picking equipment will be provided.
Councillor Martin Taylor-Smith, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for transport and IT, said:
“We invite all Bridgnorth residents with some time to spare to join us on the day to pick up litter and to help us keep the streets clean and tidy.”
William Parr, a Shropshire Councillor for Bridgnorth East and Astley Abbotts, said:
“I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to come along and join in this litter pick. The last one was a great success.”
Christian Lea, a Shropshire Councillor for Bridgnorth East and Astley Abootts, said:
“It would be very pleasing if any local residents who have an hour or so to spare, are able to turn up and help out with the litter pick and play a part in the Big Tidy Up campaign.”
Organised by Shropshire Council’s environmental maintenance team as part of the national Big Tidy Up campaign, the litter pick is being carried out in addition to their routine street cleaning schedule. It is an example of how Shropshire Council is improving life in Bridgnorth.
