Volunteer with the Home Library Service

Related topics: Leisure, culture and heritage

Cleobury Mortimer Library is calling for volunteers to help deliver books to people who cannot visit the library themselves. If you like reading and you could spare a few hours on a regular basis, perhaps you could become a volunteer with the Home Library Service?

If this appeals to you, then Shropshire Libraries would like to invite you to Cleobury Mortimer Library to find out more, at the Home Library Service coffee morning on Wednesday 16 February. Call in to the library anytime between 10am and 12 noon for further information about how you can become involved with this valuable and much appreciated service.

Councillor Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture and leisure, said

“The Home Library Service volunteers choose and deliver books and other items to people who, due to illness, frailty, disability or care commitments, are unable to leave their home to visit the library. Some people have friends, carers and family who will visit the library for them, but for others a regular visit from a volunteer with some good books is a real treat. Other libraries in Shropshire already offer this service and we are keen to extend it to your area.”

Anyone who is interested in becoming a Home Library Service volunteer in Cleobury Mortimer can come to the coffee morning, or drop into Cleobury Mortimer Library any Monday or Wednesday during normal opening hours.
