At a meeting of Shropshire Council’s full Council on 12 May 2022, a motion was agreed to explore ways in which river safety can be improved.

As a result, a review of river safety was undertaken by the council’s contractor, WSP.

The review has focused on the River Severn in Shrewsbury, as this is the location of most river incidents.

WSP’s report can now be seen here.

The report and its recommendations will be considered at the meeting of Shrewsbury Town Council’s finance and general purposes committee on Monday 5 December, and at a meeting of Shropshire Council’s Cabinet on 14 December.
