Members of Ellesmere Local Joint Committee (LJC), which covers the parishes of Cocksutt Cum Petton, Welshampton & Lyneal, Welsh Frankton, Dudleston Heath and Ellesmere Town, are inviting local organisations to apply for funding.

The group has £9,035 remaining in the current year’s budget, and are keen that groups contact the community action officer to start planning to submit applications to the next meeting due to take place on 13 March 2012 at The Boathouse in Ellesmere.

Chairman Councillor Steve Davenport said:

“We are looking to allocate this budget at our next meeting, and would like to hear from any of the smaller groups that have not contacted us before.  We have a number of applications pending, and would like to hear from some of the smaller organisations that have projects that support people living in the area.  We have supported 13 applications so far this year, and are happy to look at requests ranging from £100 to £2,000 for each project.  In many cases our community action officer has given advice and directed groups to alternative or additional funding.”

Projects funded to date total £8,929, and include £270 to assist Ellesmere Allotment Group with the purchase of a watering system, £430 for Ellesmere Rangers football team to install stop netting, £1,000 towards the purchase of a replacement grasscutter at  Criftins bowling club, and a £546 contribution to replace a carpet at Levi Court Community room.
