Beacon Hill No 2 Bridge and Muckley Cross Bridge to close for repairs

Related topics: Highways, transport and environmental maintenance

Beacon Hill No 2 Bridge and Muckley Cross Bridge – which carries a “C classified” road over Beacon and Walton Brook – are to close from 13 June [2024] for two days for maintenance.

The works to Beacon Hill No2 Bridge will include concrete repairs to the undercutting to the left-hand-side abutment and wing wall aprons, and general vegetation removal.

The works to Muckley Cross Bridge will include the removal of vegetation and overhanging collapsed branches from the structure – plus installation of positive drainage to the upstream left verge and downstream left and right verges.

To carry out the proposed work safely it will be necessary to close the bridges to vehicular traffic between 8am and 4pm each day.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted by a signed diversion route.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the works, and access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closures.

The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
