Innovative nursing conference to be held on 15 May 2018
News from our partners Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group
An innovative health / nursing conference by Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will be the first of its kind in the county for nurses, midwives and healthcare professionals.
The Quality Team at Shropshire CCG is working in collaboration with Telford and Wrekin CCG and Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) to jointly hold the ‘Partners in Care’ Conference in May.
The ‘Partners in Care’ Conference is open to all Primary Care and Community Care colleagues (nursing and allied health professionals) from across the local health economy. It is timed to coincide with ‘International Nursing Day’ and to mark the occasion of NHS70 celebrations.
The event is designed to help nurses, midwives and healthcare professionals share good practice and to showcase innovative and new ways of working. The conference is built around ‘Leading Change, Adding Value’, a framework for nursing, midwifery and care staff, launched by Professor Jane Cummings, Chief Nursing Officer for England.
The conference explores the vision to integrate health and social care services across the county. It will also seek to look at how to improve the adoption of preventative measures to narrow the gaps in health and well-being as well as the care and quality of the services we commission and provide. This is important to ensure services are both clinically and cost effective. In addition it will offer an excellent opportunity for networking with other health and social care professionals from across Shropshire.
With a focus on nursing and healthcare of the past, present and future, a host of speakers have now been confirmed for this event:
- Professor Mark Radford – Director of Nursing for Improvement, NHS Improvement.
- Dr Jacqueline McKenna MBE – Director of Nursing for Professional Leadership.
- Andrea Bailey – Associate Dean, Students, Staffordshire University.
- Elizabeth Beech – National Project Lead for Healthcare Acquired Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance, NHS England.
- Julia Holding – Co-Production Patient Experience (specifically re Support for Carers), NHS Improvement.
Dawn Clarke, Director of Nursing, Quality and Patient Experience, at Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said:
“This is the first time we have held a conference of this kind in Shropshire and it will be an exciting opportunity to celebrate work undertaken to date to deliver the Leading Change, Adding Value framework. It will also provide the opportunity to celebrate nursing and 70 years of the NHS #NHS70.”
The ‘Partners in Care’ Conference will take place on Tuesday 15 May 2018, 9am-4pm, at Shropshire Education Conference Centre at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (SECC RSH).
