Clun bridge to reopen to traffic

Clun Bridge, which carries the A488 road over the River Clun in Clun, will reopen to traffic on Saturday 14 May.

Essential repairs are currently being carried out, which involve taking down and rebuilding parts of two of the bridge’s stone masonry cut-waters, which are currently bulging heavily. The bulging is thought to be a consequence of the severe frost experienced over the last two winters.

Repair work began on Monday 9 May and the bridge has been closed to traffic since then.

However, Shropshire Council’s contractors have now confirmed that they can continue the remaining repairs with the road open to passing traffic.
