Special prize for any runner who can beat the clock on Severn Valley Trail Run
Shropshire Council are challenging local runners to lace up their trainers and try and beat the course record on a scenic off-road run this summer.
Severn Valley Trail Run is taking place on Sunday 12 June 2016. Times are: 10am for the 5km run, 11.30am for the 10km run.
This is a well-established event that is held each June at Severn Valley Country Park near Bridgnorth. The 5km course record is held by an experienced runner from Telford Athletic Club, and stands at 19.08 minutes.
Edward Andrews, Shropshire Council’s parks and countryside officer, said:-
“This year we are challenging runners to try and get around the 5km route in less than 19.08 minutes. This is quite a challenge as the route is quite hilly and all off-road. We will have a special prize for anyone who manages to beat the record, as well as the normal prizes for winners of the different age categories. Now is the perfect time to enter the run and start training.”
As well as the 5km route, this year the event will also feature a 10km route through neighbouring farmland and woodland on the banks of the River Severn. Online entries: www.stuweb.co.uk/event/2338.
