Ellesmere Library open afternoon

An open afternoon is being held at Ellesmere Library on Tuesday 13 October 2015.

Residents, representatives from community enterprises and other organisations are encouraged to drop in anytime between 4pm and 8pm to comment on the proposals for the future of the library.

We would particularly like to hear from not-for-profit organisations interested in managing Fullwood House, which would include the library, customer service point and the upper floors which contains six bedsits.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for business and culture, said:

“Libraries are an integral part of the community and this is why we have been working extremely hard with our partners to ensure we can find sustainable solutions to enable libraries to continue to thrive for future generations to come.

“We very much look forward to hearing people’s views on these proposals.”

Comments on the proposals can also be submitted online by going to shropshire.gov.uk/get-involved and searching for Ellesmere Library.

You can also pick up a consultation document along with the proposals and Frequently-Asked Questions at Ellesmere Library, Ellesmere Town Council offices, Ellesmere Post Office and Ellesmere Newsagents.

“The library is an important asset: I would encourage residents to take part in the consultation to help us find the best option for a sustainable library service in Ellesmere.”
