Over 100 local people attend Helena Lane in Ludlow open day

A recent open day held to showcase what Helena Lane in Ludlow has to offer local residents was a huge success.

After the day was officially opened by the Mayor of Ludlow, over 100 people came through the doors to enjoy special guided tours of the building and see the 25 local organisations based within it and elsewhere.  Around 50 children also visited to see Santa in his grotto.

Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for adult services – transformation and safeguarding, said:

“I’m really pleased so many people attended to see the fantastic facilities and services this building has to offer.

“The day also offered a great opportunity for the organisations that attended to network and share information.”

Hands Together Ludlow provided a light lunch and refreshments.  Also, through the raffle and other fundraising activities on the day, over £500 was raised for the daycare comforts fund.

David Key, Shropshire Council’s locality organiser, added:

“I would like to thank all of the staff and service users who helped to organise the day. Also, a special thanks to the ‘Helena Elves’ Linda Monteith and Tracey Huffer for all their help on the day and in planning the event.  We couldn’t have done it without you all.

“Building on this success, there will be another open day in summer 2015 to showcase the services and facilities and the outdoor grounds – we hope to see you there.”

The building houses, amongst others: the Vision Technology and Training Shropshire assessment centre, an NHS memory clinic and fortnightly People2People clinics, Age UK office, and RVS office.
