Rural funding opportunities for local groups at Gobowen area LJC
Local people from the Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn Local Joint Committee (LJC) area are encouraged to attend the first meeting of the 2014/15 financial year to learn about local commissioning and external funding opportunities that are available for local community groups and projects.
The meeting, to be held at Weston Rhyn Institute on Tuesday 15 of July at 7pm, will give residents a chance to discuss the issues which affect them and learn more about what is available in the area in which they live.
The meeting will receive an update from a representative of West Mercia Police on local crime-related issues. Kate Garner, Shropshire Council’s locality commissioning manager, will be in attendance to share forthcoming opportunities around locality commissioning which will help shape future governance and partnership working. Alongside this there will be an update from Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, and Shropshire Marches LEADER on funding opportunities for local community groups, along with an update on the Site Allocations Management Plan.
Councillor Steve Davenport, Chairman of the LJC, said:
“Our area looks at resolving local issues in partnership, and has achieved a great deal since 2009. These meetings provide a chance for people to tell councillors their views on local issues and services. We listen to our community, and this helps in challenging established ways of working and making improvements. The funding we have distributed has been spent wisely and has made a real difference in the community, and now we are looking to develop this further by providing information on external funding that is available to local community groups. We hope that local people will come along to hear more, and will continue to develop this partnership. This is a great opportunity for the community to feed their comments to us as local councillors and to their local parish councillors.”
All local people from the area are welcome to attend.
