Local residents in Oswestry are invited to come along to a charity afternoon to help raise funds for Help for Heroes.

The event, hosted by Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, is being held on Friday 18 July 2014 from 2pm to 4pm at the community room at Llwynfields Sheltered Housing Scheme, off Llwyn Road.

Help for Heroes is a national charity which provides practical, direct support for our current wounded, injured and sick servicemen, servicewomen and their families.

The afternoon tea will include a variety of fundraising activities, including cake stalls, raffle, prize bingo, as well as many other activities.  Refreshment will also be on sale.

Wendy Bostock, Housing Support Officer at Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, said:

“We want to raise as much money as we can for Help for Heroes.  This charity is supported  by many of our residents, some of whom have lived through and experienced the effects of war.  Charity events like these also give us a great opportunity for our local communities to come together, socialise and to have fun.”
