Further chance to have your say on draft development plan for Shropshire

People are being given another chance to respond to a plan setting out proposals for the use of land and policies to guide future development in the Shropshire Council area up to 2026.

The Pre-Submission Draft version of Shropshire’s emerging Site Allocations and Management of Development (SAMDev) Plan has been published after a number of stages and extensive consultation during the past four years.

Shropshire Council is inviting people to put forward views on the soundness of the Pre-Submission Draft Plan, up until Monday 28 April 2014.

Following this, the plan and all the representations made will be submitted to the Secretary of State for examination by an Independent Planning Inspector later in 2014.

Mal Price, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for planning and housing, said:

 “The SAMDev Plan will shape the future of the county’s development.  To date, thousands of Shropshire residents have shared their views, through a variety of channels, including some 180 public meetings held in 2012.

“We’ve amended proposals to take into account responses from previous stages, continuing dialogue with communities and local councillors, as well as the development industry.

“We would now like to hear people’s comments on the soundness of the plan.  This stage is about ensuring the plan complies with the law and national policies, and is the most appropriate strategy for the county.

“This is one of the final steps, and we would urge people to go to shropshire.gov.uk/samdev or drop into their local library if they would like to take part.”

Reference copies of the SAMDev Plan Pre-Submission Draft and other documents are also available during normal opening hours at Shirehall in Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth Library, Ludlow Library, Oswestry Library and Wem Library.  At other Shropshire Council libraries, copies of the plan are also available to view along with relevant maps for that area.
