The Comrades Club in Victoria Street, Ellesmere, is to host this month’s meeting of the Ellesmere Area Local Joint Committee, to celebrate the installation of a hearing loop system that was made possible by a grant from the LJC.

The Club was awarded £953 from the LJC towards the total £1253 cost of the project.

The LJC meeting is at 7pm on Tuesday 25 June 2013. It will give residents an opportunity to hear about care of vulnerable adults, and Luke Neal will give a presentation on the Meres and Mosses Landscape project.

Other items on the agenda include a long-awaited update about the refurbishment and painting of Ellesmere Library.

Grant applications from five projects will be considered at the meeting. These include an innovative approach to improving the memorial garden at Ellesmere Cemetery and a project to help Ellesmere get online.

Councillor Ann Hartley, Chairman of the Ellesmere Area LJC said:

“I am delighted that we are taking the meeting to a venue that we have supported and all attending will see the work in progress at Ellesmere Library, which has been made possible thanks to LJC support. We do give everybody a chance to speak to committee in our Let’s Talk sessions and make sure that we respond and update either at the meeting or future meetings.”
