Even Father Christmas can shop in Shrewsbury with Park and Ride
Father Christmas has been caught on film taking advantage of Shrewsbury’s Park and Ride service’s special offers in the run up to Christmas.
The footage, captured on the town’s late night shopping night (Wednesday), shows Mr Claus on board the special Santa bus and him visiting the many independent shops and big name stores to buy all the presents he needs.
Despite his bright red suit his presence went largely unnoticed.
Park and Ride (at Meole Brace, Harlescott and Oxon) currently only costs £1 return, with free all day parking. A group ticket is also available allowing up to five people to travel for only £2.50 after 9.30am Mondays to Fridays, and all day Saturday. Both offers are available until Monday 24 December 2012.
During late night shopping (until Wednesday 19 December 2012) additional Park and Ride services are operating until 9pm, and the service is free from 4pm onwards.
Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for public transport, said:
“Shrewsbury is an ‘original one off’’, famed for its wide variety of independent shops. However, it also has comfortable indoor shopping centres with high street names as well as specialists.
“Our Christmas Park and Ride special offers give Shropshire residents and visitors an opportunity to save money while avoiding long queues and full car parks, taking the hassle out of shopping this Christmas.”
