Shrewsbury Sports Village hosts national cycling event on Sunday 16 December
Shrewsbury Sports Village is proud to be hosting the National Trophy Cyclo Cross on Sunday 16 December 2012, on behalf of British Cycling.
Organised by the Mid Shropshire Wheelers, the cyclo cross race is a major competition in the international cycling calendar.
The event will be the 5th round of the National Series Cyclo Cross.
Residents and the local community are encouraged to come along and show their support for competitors.
Race timetable for Sunday 16 December:
- Veteran Men 40-49: 10.30am
- Veteran Men 50+: 10.31am
- Junior Men: 11.30am
- Women: 11.31am
- Youth: 1.30pm (start in 4 waves)
- Senior/U23 Men: 2.30pm

On 1 August 2012, Shropshire Council appointed Shropshire Community Leisure Trust, working with managing agent Serco Leisure. Under the contract with Shropshire Community Leisure Trust, Serco provide management services to five leisure centres across the county, namely Market Drayton Swimming Centre, Oswestry Leisure Centre, Shrewsbury Sports Village and Indoor Bowls Hall, Whitchurch Swimming Centre and the Quarry Fitness and Swimming Centre in Shrewsbury, as part of a new approach to service delivery. The 10-year contract commenced on 1 August 2012, and has already seen £1.2 million investment in facilities and equipment across the sports village.
Shrewsbury Sports Village has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment of its fitness suite, including the creation of a brand new 60 station fitness suite, and the current gym has been turned into a state of the art performance/free weights space.
