New website makes it easier to buy food waste caddy liners
North Shropshire residents who recently received a kitchen caddy to help them separate out their food waste at home are being reminded that they can buy additional, approved, compostable liners for their caddy.
The liners, which have been approved for use in the food/garden waste collection service, can be purchased from Shropshire Council customer service points in the former North Shropshire District Council and South Shropshire District Council areas, and can now also be purchased online from caddyliners.com.
Only liners supplied by the council or through caddyliners.com should be used with the food/garden waste collection service, as they are specially-certified compostable liners which are made from corn-starch and branded to show they are compostable. No other types of liner should be used, as even those marked ‘biodegradable’ do not break down sufficiently or quickly enough.
Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for waste management, said:
“This new website will make it easier for people to buy a new supply of caddy liners. You can use your kitchen caddies as they are and wash them out each time, but most people find it better if they are lined to help keep them and food bins clean. You can just use a sheet or two of newspaper, but most people prefer to use liners as they are specially designed for the job.”
Visit www.caddyliners.com and they will arrange for the compostable liners to be posted out to you direct. Liners are currently on a special offer: buy two rolls and get one free.
