Oswestry Leisure Centre open day – Saturday 8 September

Residents of Oswestry and the surrounding areas can now enjoy an array of leisure activities with family and friends at Oswestry Leisure Centre, following an extensive refurbishment of the fitness suite. 

People are invited to go along to the Open Day on Saturday 8 September 2012 from 10am until 4pm and see the refurbishment firsthand and enjoy the following activities: 

  • Have a look around the brand new 75-station fitness suite, with health and fitness memberships from £24.95 per month* 
  • Join on the day and get the rest of September free 
  • Free workout taster classes in the Dance Studio including Body Blast at 2pm until 2.45pm, and Fit to Box and Step Pump at 3pm until 3.45pm 
  • ‘Have a go’ sports hall games will be available throughout the day including badminton and table tennis 
  • Children’s bouncy castle and face painting throughout the day.

 In addition to all of the above there is the chance to win a brand new Mini for a weekend.  

As part of a significant investment programme of improvements to leisure facilities, the fitness suite has been extended to convert the existing gym change, sauna and stores.  In addition to these improvements, a new retail area for swimwear and accessories will be created; plus a new café, complete with kitchen and servery, will be installed in the existing seating and vending area. 

Brian Taylor, Chairman of Shropshire Community Leisure Trust, said:

“We are working to really engage with the local community and open the new facility to as many residents and community groups as possible.  Providing a larger fitness suite will have a positive impact on community participation by increasing opportunities for a wider range of health and fitness-related activities.  The Open Day is the perfect opportunity to come along and see the changes firsthand.”
