Last chance to comment about future housing sites
Time is running out for Shropshire people to have their say about sites in their area that are being proposed for future housing development.
Shropshire Council’s new Site Allocations and Management of Development (SAMDev) ‘Preferred Options’ document sets out the potential sites on which a total of 8,000 homes could be built by 2026.
A public consultation into the proposals began in early March 2012, and people have until Friday 20 July 2012 to have their say.
A public meeting will take place in Craven Arms this Thursday (12 July 2012) to let people find out more and express their views. This will be the last in a series of 18 consultation meetings that have been held across the county over the past few weeks.
The meeting takes place at Craven Arms Community Centre. There is a drop-in session from 2pm to 6.30pm, and a public meeting from 7pm to 9.30pm.
All the plans can be viewed at shropshire.gov.uk/samdev where there is a questionnaire which forms the official response to the consultation.
You can also get involved in the consultation by joining the ‘Plan My Shropshire’ Facebook page or by calling the council’s customer service centre on 0345 678 9004. If you don’t have access to a computer or the Internet, you can view the plans at your local library or Broadplace.
Mal Price, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for planning, said:
“These are really important proposals for the future of Shropshire and are the culmination of a lot of discussions with town and parish councils about how much development they would like to see in their area.
“With time running out, I urge everyone to look at the preferred sites in their community so they can make their views known before the consultation ends.”
As the Craven Arms meeting is being held close to the end of the consultation period, people in that area are being given until Friday 10 August 2012 to submit their comments.
