Adult Learners Week 14 May – 18 May in Shropshire

Adult Learners Week is the UK’s annual festival of learning; inspiring adults all over the UK to discover how learning can make a positive difference to their lives.

As part of Adult Leaners Week, Shropshire Broadplaces are taking the opportunity to promote its regular drop-in sessions, which give adults of all ages the chance to get to grips with computers and the Internet. 

Whether you have never turned on a computer before, need help transferring photos off your digital camera, sending an email ,or anything inbetween, then pop along to one of the Broadplace sessions and get help from a friendly volunteer.  There are also clubs and courses going on throughout the year if you have a particular interest in something like family history or photography.

Gwilym Butler, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for the voluntary and community sector, said:

“Computers and IT can open up a whole new world to people, from staying in touch with loved ones using social media, to being able to access a whole array of services more cheaply easily through the Internet.  The Broadplace drop-in sessions offer residents the chance to build their skills and confidence in these areas in a supportive, informal environment.”

Broadplace sessions are held at a range of venues across Shropshire in the local community.  Sessions are either free, or we ask for a small contribution of £1 or £2 to cover the costs of using the room.
