Retrofitting Shropshire – Meet the supply chain event will run from 8:30am to 11:30am in the Sovereign Suite and is being organised by Shropshire Council’s affordable warmth and energy efficiency team.  The event aims to bring together contractors from across Shropshire, representing various trades including electricians, plasterers, gas fitters, glaziers, self-employed DIY enthusiasts, and more.

Event Highlights

Shropshire’s Retro-fit event offers a great chance for professionals in the retrofit sector to gain insights, enhance their expertise, network with colleagues, and discover new business prospects.

The event is designed to raise awareness and understanding of current retrofit programmes, standards, and the essential skills required in the field. It provides a unique opportunity for small businesses to upskill their employees, support apprenticeship schemes, and foster general economic growth in the local community with funding support.

Agenda

  • Breakfast Event: Doors open at 8:30 AM, and everyone is welcome to join.
  • Trade Stands: Various trade stands will be set up to promote contractors and partnership organisations.
  • Presentations: Key presentations will be delivered by Trustmark, the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, and contractors who will offer valuable insights into the retrofit landscape.
  • Networking Opportunities: Attendees will have the chance to network and engage with current contractors, aiming to become a part of the supply chain for the next programme starting in April 2025.

Councillor Dean Carroll, Cabinet member for housing and assets said,

“As a council we have been at the forefront of delivering retrofit projects in the county, helping residents to live in homes that are more comfortable, cheaper to run and better for the environment.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for contractors to learn about the latest in retrofit standards and programmes. It is essential for the growth of our local economy and for achieving our climate goals.

“We look forward to welcoming you to this pivotal event and to fostering the growth and development of retrofit initiatives within Shropshire.”

Councillor Ian Nellins, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Climate Change, Environment and Transport added:

“Retrofitting is a key part of our ambition to become a net zero carbon county by 2030, as well as improving the health and wellbeing of our residents.

We are committed to supporting local businesses and ensuring they have the skills needed to thrive in the evolving market. This event is a crucial step in that direction, and we encourage all interested parties to attend and take advantage of the resources and networking possibilities provided.”
