Powering Tourism in Shropshire Event
Empowering Shropshire’s Visitor Economy with free training and resources
Businesses across Shropshire are invited to the free “Powering Tourism in Shropshire” event, a pivotal programme aimed at bolstering Shropshire’s Visitor Economy Businesses.
Organised by Shropshire Council, the free event will take place on Tuesday, 22nd October 2024, from 9.30 am to 1 pm at Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
The event and the whole programme of business support has been 100% funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Attendees at the “Powering Tourism in Shropshire” event will hear about an array of support, including:
- information on how to register for complimentary training in food hygiene Level 2 and Emergency First Aid at work
- free accessibility reviews and advice
- insights into Shropshire’s new brand
- updates on the Great Outdoors Project.
Attendees will also learn about the development of a free image and video library which is under development and due to be launched in the coming weeks.
The event schedule includes:
- 9.30 am: Registration & networking
- 10.00 am: Introduction to the In Shropshire Brand. Visit England presentation on making your business more accessible and the free support available. Learn about FREE training in First Aid, Food Hygiene, & Accessibility. All the latest information about Local Visitor Economy Partnerships.
- 1.00 pm: Event close.
- 1.30 – 4.30 pm: Optional Marketing Workshop (Limited spaces)
The optional afternoon marketing workshop will include a CANVA masterclass, social media interactive content planning, and reels mastery, offering businesses the tools to unlock their potential and align with Shropshire’s new brand.
Councillor Robert Macey, Cabinet member for culture and digital, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating:

The resources and training provided will empower you to enhance your operations and attract more visitors to our beautiful county.
