Temporary lights on Porthill Road, Shrewsbury for wall repairs

Related topics: Highways, transport and environmental maintenance

Two-way temporary traffic lights will be place on Porthill Road, Shrewsbury from 7 October to 8 November 2024 while work is carried out to demolish and rebuild a wall outside number 26.

Conifer trees behind the wall are currently pushing it towards the road – and the low height of the trees (1.5 metres) is causing pedestrians to walk in the road to get past.

As a result, the property owner has instructed McPhillips to remove the conifers, demolish the wall currently in place and rebuild a new wall further back from the road. This will also help to provide a better visibility splay to vehicles exiting the property onto the road.

The temporary lights will be in place to allow McPhillips to undertake the work safely.

Affected residents will be notified in advance of the work taking place.
