Crowdfund Shropshire, the new civic fundraising platform where community groups can get their projects funded by public and grant funding, is now open for a second round.

Community groups are encouraged to come along to an online workshop on Thursday 18 July 2024 between 10.30am and 11.30am to find out about how their project could benefit, how crowdfunding works and learn some top tips for their campaign.

For this next round of funding, projects can pitch for up to £10,000 from the Shared Prosperity Community Fund (in partnership with VCS team at Community Resource), and up to £20,000 from the Green Spaces and Active Travel Fund (in partnership with Shropshire Wildlife Trust and Energize Shropshire).

This workshop will cover:

  • The funding available to help make community groups ideas happen.
  • Advice on creating their project and tips on how to run an amazing crowdfunding campaign.
  • The opportunity to join interactive breakout rooms to access specialised support for their project.

Jane Trethewey, Shropshire Council’s assistant director for homes and communities, said:

“Whether your project is big or small, this is your opportunity to learn how to make a real difference in your local area through Crowdfund Shropshire.

“We look forward to seeing you there.”

Julie Mellor from the Voluntary and Community Assembly (Joint Chair with Nicola Daniels), added:

“I really encourage local voluntary and community sector groups and organisations to take the time to attend this workshop. We have already seen a range of projects benefit and we all know that a little bit of funding can go a long way”.

Crowdfund Shropshire is being run in partnership with the community fundraising platform Spacehive, which enables local residents to exclusively access funding for community improvement initiatives.

The crowdfunding nature of this programme, in collaboration with council funding, maximises the amount community groups can raise in order to deliver transformational community projects that matter to them.
