News from our partners: Shropshire leisure centres to offer free entry to servicemen and women on Armed Forces Day
Shropshire Community Leisure Trust will be welcoming current and ex-servicemen and women, and their families, into its centres for free on Armed Forces Day, Saturday 29 June 2024.
Quarry Swimming & Fitness Centre, Shrewsbury Sports Village, Oswestry Leisure Centre, Bishop’s Castle Leisure Centre and Market Drayton Swimming & Fitness Centre will be offering free gym and swimming sessions for those who have served in our armed forces.
Partnership Manager for the trust, Rhys Collins said:
“I want to show our support for the people who have served this country – giving them free use of our centres is just a small gesture of thanks from us at Shropshire Community Leisure Trust.
“We’re hoping to see plenty of current/ex-military people and their families on Saturday. There’s no need to pre-book, just turn up at one of our centres with proof of service, such as an ID or veteran’s card.
“As a trust, we are also supporting Shropshire Council’s Armed Forces Day event, which takes place at Shrewsbury Castle on 29 June. Members of our team will be on hand during the day running children’s activity sessions. The event runs from 11am to 3pm and is free to attend!”
Shrewsbury Sports Village, the Quarry, Oswestry Leisure Centre, Bishops Castle Leisure Centre and Market Drayton Swimming & Fitness Centre are operated by Shropshire Community Leisure Trust in partnership with Serco Leisure, and on behalf of Shropshire Council.
