Longnor Bridge to close for essential repairs

Related topics: Highways, transport and environmental maintenance

Longnor Bridge – which carries an unclassified road over the Cound Brook – is to close from 10 to 13 June [2024] for essential repairs.

The work will include the removal of a tree from the downstream left wingwall, concrete repairs to undercutting, construction of a new concrete apron and installation of fencing to the downstream left approach.

To carry out the work safely it will be necessary to close the bridge to vehicular traffic from 9.30am to 2.45pm each day.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted by a signed diversion route.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the work, and access to frontages will be maintained up to the bridge closure.

Inevitably there will be some disruption during these works, and people are thanked for their patience and understanding,

The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor Kier, with supervision being provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.
