Shropshire Council nominated in Excellence in People Management Awards
Shropshire Council’s Getting Leadership Right programme has made it to the final round of the Public Services People Managers Association’s Excellence in People Management Awards this year.
The council has been shortlisted in the Best Learning & Development category, which recognises the value of learning and development and how it can improve service delivery as well as enhancing the skills, experience and approach of individuals, teams and the wider workforce.
Our Getting Leadership Right programme was introduced in 2023 to help implement The Shropshire Plan effectively and give the council’s senior staff the tools, techniques and support they need.
Getting Leadership Right helps senior staff overcome and eliminate obstacles to the plan’s successful implementation by providing them with the resources to grow and improve.
Lezley Picton, elected Leader of the Council, said:-
“More than 350 people have successfully been through our Getting Leadership Right programme to date. It is helping us to create a culture of continuous personal development, and identifying the next generation of leadership talent, so that our people are ready as individuals – and as teams – for the challenges of the future.”
Public Services People Managers Association strives to enhance, promote and raise the standards of people management and organisation development within public services. Excellence in People Management Awards are a way to acknowledge and celebrate amazing achievements that often go unnoticed.
The winners will be revealed on Thursday 25 April 2024 at an event in Birmingham.
