News from our partners: Oswestry gym to benefit from £110,000 refurbishment
News from our partners Shropshire Community Leisure Trust Limited
Oswestry Leisure Centre’s gym is getting an upgrade, with the introduction of well over £100k worth of new equipment for customers to use.
Among the range of fitness kit, much of the centre’s old stock will be replaced with new products, while there will be some equipment which is making a first appearance at the centre, including kettlebells, a shoulder press and an incline press.
Jamie Bryant, Partnership Manager for Shropshire Community Leisure Trust Limited (SCLT), which manages Oswestry as well as Shrewsbury Sports Village, Market Drayton Swimming Pool and The Quarry, Shrewsbury swimming pools, on behalf of Shropshire Council, said:-
“As well as refreshing our current suite of equipment, we’ve responded to customer feedback and introduced more weight training kit. This was a good gym before, but with this upgrade it’s now gone up a level, and has everything the serious, or not so serious, fitness fan will need to get and stay in shape.
“I would like to thank Shropshire Council for supporting the centre and funding this refurb. These are tough times for all councils, so for them to continue investing in the health and wellbeing of this community is admirable.”
Rob Gittins, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture and digital, said:-
“The health and wellbeing of people in Shropshire is of vital importance to us. This investment in improving the fitness suite is excellent news and will add to the superb facilities offered to everyone using Oswestry Leisure Centre.”
The refurbished gym opened to the public last week. For information about Oswestry Leisure Centre, head to the website: https://www.shropshireleisurecentres.com/oswestry-leisure-centre/
