Return to school helpline for parents, carers and children to launch next week
Shropshire Council is to provide a helpline for parents, carers and children to help ensure a safe and worry-free return to school next month.
The support line – 0345 678 9008 – will launch next Monday (17 August) and be in operation until 2 September. It will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Ed Potter, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children’s services, said:
“Following the significant disruption caused by Covid-19 school attendance will again be compulsory from September 2020 and we’re aware that this may raise some questions or anxieties for children and for their parents and carers.
“We’ll be operating this support line for the two weeks before term starts and hope it will help to address concerns, allay any fears, and ensure that all children have a successful return to school.”
Callers will initially speak to a customer service adviser before being put through to the council’s Education Access Service.
