Get involved in Bridgnorth’s community litterpicks
Shropshire Council’s streetscene team is organising a series of fortnightly community litterpicks in Bridgnorth on Wednesday afternoons between 1.30pm-3pm, beginning on Wednesday 18 October 2017.
The litter picks will cover commercial and residential areas to complement the ongoing work of regular volunteers, Christine and Phil Webster, who undertake various projects around the town.
We would like to invite residents to join us to help keep Bridgnorth neat and tidy. The more people that get involved, the more litter can be collected.
Events will take place:
- 18 October – meet at Innage Lane car park
- 1 November – meet at Westgate offices car park
- 15 November – meet at Sainsbury’s car park
- 29 November – meet at Severn Street car park
Organisers of the event will be on site at 1.15pm to meet volunteers and give a brief health and safety talk. Litter pickers and protective clothing will be provided.
Please ring 0345 678 9006 for more information, or in case of bad weather to confirm the event is still going ahead.
Steve Davenport, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for environmental maintenance, said:
“We hope people will come along and get involved in their community litter pick, even if you have only half an hour to spare. This is a great opportunity to tidy Bridgnorth, and the more people that get involved the bigger the impact will be.
“Our teams are committed to improving Shropshire’s environment and I am delighted that we are continuing to support these initiatives.”
Les Winwood, a local Shropshire Councillor for Bridgnorth West and Tasley, said:-
“Christine and Phil Webster are doing a great job, along with many other kind residents, in helping to keep our beautiful town clear of litter. I wish to thank them all, and hope we can encourage more residents to take part In the scheduled litter picks.”
