Condover crime prevention Day of Action hailed a success
A Day of Action, delivered in Condover on Wednesday 17 February 2016, has been hailed a success by those who attended.
Condover Village Hall played host to a variety of agencies including West Mercia Police, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, RBS, The Rural Community Council, Smart Water, Severn Trent and Neighbourhood Watch. The organisations provided information and free advice to residents on subjects including home security and property marking as well as helping to raise awareness about online, telephone and postal scams.
Condover Parish Council were also on hand to provide local information regarding a community defibrillator scheme and local community recognition scheme to reward local volunteers.
The Day of Action, arranged by the Shrewsbury crime and disorder reduction partnership, Bronze Level Tasking, was hailed a success by local Shropshire Councillor Tim Barker, who stated:
‘‘I am delighted that so many residents came to the village hall to learn about home security and how they can help protect themselves from rural crime. Residents being aware of the latest crime prevention techniques can only help keep our towns and villages safer.”
The event was well attended, with residents from all over Shropshire attending. Residents were provided with some free crime prevention equipment, as well as some good advice on spotting rogue traders, identifying scams and password protection schemes for utility companies.
